Speaking on talkSPORT’s GameDay Podcast, Trevor Sinclair has been full of praise for Arsenal’s young midfielder Emile Smith Rowe
Smith Rowe has been absolutely fantastic so far this season. He’s scored as many Premier League goals as Cristiano Ronaldo and he’s earned his first England cap for his performances with the Gunners this term.
Smith Rowe was at it again this weekend as he came off the bench to net a goal against Leeds, and Sinclair was seemingly very impressed by the 21-year-old at Elland Road.
What’s been said about Smith Rowe?
Sinclair had nothing but good things to say about the England international.
“Smith Rowe is really starting to come into his own. I saw him play a few times last year. There was a lot of big things being said about him and even I said about him being similar to Paul Merson and how he’s always two or three passes ahead of the play. Arteta’s using him sparingly at the moment. He came off the bench to score his goal against Leeds,” Sinclair said.

Mature beyond his years
Sinclair says that Smith Rowe is always two or three passes ahead of the game, and that’s incredible to see from a player this young.
It’s so easy to forget how young Smith Rowe is. He plays as though he’s a true veteran who’s played hundreds of senior matches, while, in reality, this is a player who’s been a first-teamer for less than a year.
Just imagine how high his ceiling is. He’s playing with this much intelligence at the moment, and he will only get better as he plays more and more.
The future is incredibly bright for Smith Rowe and Arsenal.
