Arsenal signing Gabriel Jesus might be getting a little closer to being realised.
According to Goal, Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with the Manchester City hitman about coming to the Emirates Stadium during the summer transfer window.
With Erling Haaland having joined Pep Guardiola’s side this week, such a signing might be the catalyst for the 25-year-old Brazil international to join the Gunners.
The South American’s agent confirmed earlier this week that both parties were in discussions about a transfer to North London.
Goal reported Arsenal have offered £43 million but, according to a report from Brazil, the ‘total package’ could be similar to the entire deal which saw Haaland join Manchester City.
According to CNBC, the Sky Blues will be paying a total of around £136 million for the Norway international, including a £51 million transfer fee.
And UOL in South America claim that Arsenal signing Gabriel Jesus could set Stan Kroenke back a similar amount at the Emirates.
The report adds that the Gunners are favourites to sign him because of Edu’s relationship with the marksman, with the former having been Brazil’s technical director prior to coming to the Premier League in 2019.
Gabriel Jesus a good signing for Arsenal?
In a word, yes.
The Brazilian forward scored four goals in a 5-1 win for Manchester City last month and with the player also knowing Mikel Arteta, in addition to Edu, logically he could hit the ground running at the Emirates.
Alexandre Lacazette is set to leave North London and the same could also be true of Eddie Nketiah, with both strikers out of contract this summer.
Even if Nketiah winds up staying, Arsenal will be signing a couple of new centre-forwards during the transfer window and based on the above, it’s looking distinctly possible that Gabriel is among the players that are coming in.
