Harvey Elliott has taken to Instagram to urge Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty into joining Liverpool, after the 17-year-old trained with the Reds.

What’s the story?

Well, as revealed by MLS Soccer, Marshall-Rutty has been training with Liverpool, having previously spent time at Arsenal’s London Colney base.

It seems as if the Reds may have already offered the Canadian a contract, as Elliott can be seen urging him to ‘sign the ting’ – intriguing stuff.

You can see a photo of Elliott’s exchange with Marshall-Rutty below.

It seems as if the teenage duo are getting along well, as the Toronto wonderkid has been photographed alongside Elliott while also talking to him on Instagram.

If Liverpool are to sign Marshall-Rutty, they cannot do so until he turns 18 in June.

However, it seems Jürgen Klopp is happy to roll the red carpet out, as Marshall-Rutty was also spotted alongside Mohamed Salah.

Who is Liverpool trainee Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty?

In a few years, Marshall-Rutty could be held in similar regard to Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, who also emerged from Canada.

In fact, the Liverpool trainee has already been likened to the Bundesliga star, which reflects very well on the 17-year-old.

Additionally, Ali Curtis – Toronto’s former General Manager – described the versatile youngster as an “incredibly talented” prospect (Guardian).

Interestingly, it seems as if Marshall-Rutty can play in a number of areas.

As Transfermarkt shows, the Toronto No.7 can play anywhere on the right flank, while he also lined up at centre-forward and in central midfield last season.

That bodes well for Klopp as he has plenty of ability to work with, but the German must find a settled position for Marshall-Rutty.

Keep an eye on this saga – if Elliott gets his way, the Canadian will become a Liverpool player in 2022.
