Graham Roberts has taken to Twitter to react as Pep Guardiola appeared to aim a subtle dig at Daniel Levy, after Tottenham refused to sell Harry Kane.
What’s the story?
Well, Guardiola was discussing Ferran Torres, as the 21-year-old gets set to join Barcelona in a deal worth £55m.
The Manchester City boss revealed that the Spaniard asked to leave, and said he had no problem in granting the forward’s wishes.
Guardiola said: “If you are not happy, you have to leave. We’re not a club like other teams when you want to leave CEO and president say no”.
Now, these comments come after the Citizens spent most of the summer trying to sign Kane from Spurs.
Like Torres, the England international asked to leave, but Levy held firm and rejected Manchester City’s one and only bid of £100m.
After reading Guardiola’s subtle dig, Roberts – who spent six years at Spurs – hit back.
You can’t really argue with the 62-year-old.
Yes, Levy was holding firm, but every player has a price, and Manchester City are one of the richest clubs on the planet.
Guardiola cannot begrudge Spurs for not wanting to sell their talisman after one bid was made.
Tottenham should’ve sold Harry Kane

In hindsight, Spurs probably should’ve accepted that £100m bid, and used it to bring a younger centre-forward to N17.
Kane has only scored two Premier League goals so far this season, and has looked a shadow of the player who won the Premier League Golden Boot last term with 23 goals to his name.

There has been plenty of talk about Dusan Vlahovic, with Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici said to be huge fans of the Serbian.
In our view, if a similar offer arrives for Kane in 2022, Spurs should take it and use the funds to revamp Conte’s squad.
