Ian Darke has backed either David Moyes’ West Ham United or Sean Dyche’s Everton to sign Christian Pulisic from Chelsea this summer.

The popular football commentator added that Christian Pulisic is ‘not wanted by Chelsea‘ and he needs to find a new home in order to pick up his stumbling career.

West Ham United and Everton’s names were thrown into the transfer hat, with Darke adding that it would be ‘shrewd business’ if any of those teams signed him up, as he told ESPN.

The 24-year-old has had a mountain of problems at Stamford Bridge over the years from injury issues, lack of form, game time or just struggling to get going under most of the managers he has had.

With Chelsea clearing out their squad, then you would expect Pulisic to be one of the names to leave, but where will he go? Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have strongly been linked.

But, for Darke, it’s better off Pulisic goes lower down the table and perhaps to West Ham, who will be in the Europa League next season, or Everton, who once again, narrowly avoided relegation.

“Yes (on Pulisic needing to move to a team lower down the PL table) and he needs minutes, he needs to play,” said Darke. “He has missed so many games, for one reason or another over the last three years, not always his fault. He has been unlucky with injuries.

“And also, he hasn’t been given a proper run in the team when he has been fit, either. It hasn’t worked out for Chelsea, you heard what he just said. You want to be somewhere that you are wanted and comfortable.

“Well, he isn’t wanted at Chelsea and he obviously isn’t comfortable at Chelsea, so some kind of move. You mention Milan, well they have had Rafael Leao playing in his position, so if he went, then Pulisic could be quite a good replacement.

“He could be a bit of shrewd business for the kind of teams mentioned there (Everton and West Ham). If he’s fit, they get him up to speed and his confidence is there as well, then you will start to see a much better player. He has real talent, but we just haven’t seen it for the last two or three seasons.”

Pulisic better suited to West Ham than Everton

The issue facing Everton here is that they are still a mess, both on and off the field, so you have to question what direction they are actually going.

Can they even afford Pulisic? It wouldn’t be a surprise if that’s a no, which would then open the door for someone like West Ham to add him to their attacking ranks.

Yes, they are Europa Conference League champions, but their forward line needs prepping up again and someone like Pulisic could work well in East London.
