Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger is set to return to the pitch this week as the former Gunners manager has been named in the starting XI for a charity match.

As reported by RMC Sport via GFFN, Wenger will line up alongside the likes of Rudi Garcia, Marcel Desailly and French president Emmanuel Macron in a charity fixture against a team of medical staff from the Poissy Saint-Germain-en-Laye hospital.

The fixture will aim to raise money for improving hospitalisation conditions for young people in France. And it will surely be an entertaining match to watch given some of the names taking part.

Wenger will start at centre-back alongside Desailly, with president Macron lining up in the centre of midfield. In January, the former Arsenal manager will return to the dug-out in a one-off fixture in Saudi Arabia.

As per the Evening Standard, Wenger will manage a combined Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr XI that will face off against the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Indeed, the two occasions will likely be watched on with great interest by Arsenal fans. After all, Wenger remains one of the club’s biggest legends after everything he did for the north London side.
