Pontus Jansson did not play for Leeds United against Bristol City in the Championship at the weekend.

Jansson is one of the best defenders in the Championship and is a key figure in the current Leeds team, but the centre-back’s performances so far this season have not been great.
The Sweden international was an unused substitute at the Ashton Gate Stadium, as the Whites won 3-0 with relative ease.

“I have had my thoughts about it for some time,” Christiansen told BBC Radio Leeds about dropping Jansson (click here to read more).
“I think that after the last games this was the moment to do it and the response of Pennington and Liam was perfect.”

Christiansen’s comments show just ruthless the Leeds head coach can be; after all, Jansson is a very good defender and is a fan favourite.
The fact that the Whites did well away from home without the Sweden in the team should be a concern for the centre-back.
It is clear that Christiansen has noticed that Jansson is not in good form at the moment, and the defender could find it tough to get back into the team if the Whites continue to play well and win matches without him.
