Speaking on the All To Play For Podcast, Jay Bothroyd has been speaking about Tottenham striker Harry Kane and his failed attempt to get a move this summer.

It’s no secret that Kane wanted to leave Spurs in the last transfer window, and Manchester City were very interested, reportedly submitting a bid worth £100m.

After a slow start to the season, Bothroyd believes that Spurs should have taken the money they were offered for Kane, claiming that they won’t get such an offer again.

What’s been said about Kane?

Bothroyd spoke about City’s search for a striker and Kane.

“I think they will buy someone, I think they will buy someone. I think they’ll buy that Vlahovic from Fiorentina. I like him. He looks like the kind of player who will come and score goals. Harry Kane, I think that’s dead now, because he’s not performing. As much as I think he’s one of the best strikers in the world, that £100m tag, they should have taken it, because they’re not going to get it now,” Bothroyd said.

Could still get £100m

Bothroyd says that Spurs won’t get £100m for Harry Kane now, but we’re inclined to disagree.

Yes, he’s had a bad run of form, but is six months of poor performance enough to wipe out the past seven years of brilliance?

Kane is one of the greatest goalscorers the Premier League has ever seen. He’s a three-time Golden Boot winner and last year he was also the top assister in the division.

Kane is still a supreme talent, you don’t just lose all of that ability overnight, and if Tottenham were to sell him in January or next summer, we’d still expect him to fetch close to that £100m mark.
