Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared what he knows about Manchester City’s potential part-exchange offer for Harry Kane.
It emerged earlier this week that City had made an offer of £100m for Kane, with Romano claiming that there was also the option for players to be involved in the deal.
Unfortunately for Spurs, any players included in the deal wouldn’t be in addition to the £100m, instead they would make up the value of the deal, with City reducing their cash offer depending on which player Spurs would be receiving.
What’s been said?
This deal sounds rather complicated, but Romano did a good job of explaining the intricacies of this potential part-exchange deal.
“It’s 100 per cent confirmed that Manchester City made an official bid to Tottenham a few days ago for Harry Kane. £100m, this is the value of the bid, but in this bid Manchester City included this position, if you want to talk about players, not in addition to the money, but as part of the deal, so say £60m with a player or £50m with a player. So if they want to talk about players in the deal, they are open. So Raheem Sterling, but the player doesn’t want to be included, Laporte, Gabriel Jesus, they want to talk about players,” Romano said.

Not worth it
If Spurs are only going to get an offer up to the value of £100m, then it’s not worth selling Kane.
It sounds preposterous to turn down £100m for any footballer, but the reality is that in this day and age Kane is worth more than that.
He’s a three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner, a World Cup Golden Boot winner and the England captain. He’s undoubtedly one of the most valuable footballers on the planet, and when you have players like Philippe Coutinho moving for £142m, you have to imagine that Kane is worth at least £150m.
Spurs need to hold out for a better offer.
