Inter Milan striker Andrea Pinamonti is reportedly set to leave the San Siro, with Wolves and Liverpool said to be keen.
Italian outlet CalcioMercato, via Gazetta Dello Sport, have reported that Inter Milan will “sacrifice” young striker Andrea Pinamonti amid Liverpool and Wolves interest – but should Celtic consider a move?
The report claims Liverpool, along with Valencia, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are keen on the 18-year-old hotshot, who has impressed in Inter’s youth side this season with seven goals in 11 games.
Six of those came in the UEFA Youth League, which has also seen Wolves alerted to his presence after being linked to the Championship winners back in the January transfer window.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is likely to be on the lookout for a new striker this summer, with doubts surrounding the future of Moussa Dembele while Odsonne Edouard remains on loan from PSG.
The Hoops had expected to pay £7million for Edouard this summer to make his loan permanent, but French outlet RMC Sport claim that figure is indeed a whopping £8.8million.
Arguably third-choice at Celtic behind Dembele and Leigh Griffiths this season, Celtic should avoid a big-money move for Edouard in a deal that would surpass the club’s transfer record by a hefty chunk of £2.8million.
Instead, they should look to rival Wolves and Liverpool, as well as a whole host of European heavyweights for Pinamonti’s signature with the promise of regular first-team football – which Rodgers has shared between his three strikers this season.
Though he has made just five senior appearances for Inter, signing Pinamonti would be a huge signal of intent if the Hoops were to beat Premier League opposition.
Rodgers has a track record of turning young stars into elite footballers – such as Dembele, Kieran Tierney and Kristoffer Ajer – and Pinamonti would surely be tempted with a move to Celtic because of that.
