Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has offered an explanation as to why the 2020 arrival didn’t celebrate his crucial goal for Spurs against Leeds this weekend.
Speaking to Football London, the Danish international revealed that he was not happy with the scoreline despite putting Tottenham back into the game at 1-1.
Spurs went a goal down in the opening half after being dominated by Leeds, however, goals from Hojbjerg and Sergio Reguilon saw the north London side fight from behind to win 2-1.
Indeed, it was a huge result for Tottenham, with Antonio Conte’s side now up seventh in the Premier League standings. But for Hojbjerg, his crucial goal was not worth celebrating for Spurs.
The former Southampton midfielder said: “So it was more like ‘I scored but let’s get back and get another one’ because at home a draw I was never going to be celebrating. I only celebrate the wins and we did that.”
Indeed, it is an interesting mentality to have given the magnitude of the goal. However, Spurs fans on social media loved Hojbjerg’s response as to why he didn’t celebrate.
