Tottenham Hotspur have already made their first move of the 2024 summer transfer window.
It’s the return of Timo Werner, a season-long loan from RB Leipzig after he spent six months at the club during the recently-concluded campaign.
But Tottenham fans want more and far better signings to back Ange Postecoglou.
The Treble-winning boss at Celtic enjoyed a fruitful, entertaining and drama-filled first season at Hotspur Way.
Spurs returned to Europe, played expansive football, stopped Arsenal from winning the Premier League title, and scored goals for fun, but conceded them in equal measure.
It was a chaotic debut campaign for Postecoglou, but he will want the waters to be much calmer next season.
For that to happen, he needs new faces and that requires Daniel Levy to back his outspoken manager in the transfer market.
Sources have told HTIC that Tottenham plan a double transfer raid of their London rivals Chelsea and they want to sign Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah this summer.
Andy Townsend was reacting to the suggestion that Chelsea, who appointed Enzo Maresca as their new coach, could sell the duo to balance the books.
The former Premier League defender labelled it ‘shocking’ and urged Gallagher to stay at Stamford Bridge, as he told talkSPORT (03/06/24 at 7:55 am).
Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah to leave Chelsea?
“It looks like and feels like Chalobah will be going, with FFP, alongside Gallagher,” said Jason Cundy.
Townsend responded: “That’s shocking that is – there are some big calls for Enzo. Whether he is going to be making them, I doubt. Whether he can have an influence on if Conor Gallagher stays or goes.
“I hope Conor Gallagher stays. I really hope that he can convince people that you can’t keep getting rid of your best. I know the books have to be balanced.”

Will Tottenham sign Conor Gallagher?
There is competition for Gallagher’s signature, with Chelsea wanting £50 million for his talents and Aston Villa pushing hard for a deal, as HITC revealed.
Gallagher has 12 months left on his contract and he either signs a new deal or is sold. It has been well-documented what is going to happen.

You wonder how much of this is playing on Gallagher’s mind because he is pushing to make the cut for England ahead of Euro 2024.
Usually, you find deals don’t go haywire crazy until after major tournaments are over, and in this case, there are two this summer, including Copa America.
