Tim Sherwood has said on Premier League Productions that Nuno will not get the Tottenham Hotspur managerial role.
The former Tottenham manager believes that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s recent comments about playing attractive football means that Nuno is out of contention.
As quoted in The Daily Mail, Tottenham chairman Levy has written to the fans that he plans to get a manager who will bring back the free-flowing attacking football that the team used to play under Mauricio Pochettino.
The Athletic recently reported that Nuno is not a candidate for the Tottenham managerial role, but The Mirror has claimed that super-agent Jorge Mendes has been pushing Nuno for the role.
Mourinho, sacked by Spurs last month, is also a client of Mendes.
Sherwood said on Premier League Productions: “I don’t think so. Obviously Jorge put in Jose Mourinho, one of his highest profile clients he has, now he would have to knock on the door to Daniel Levy and say Nuno. I don’t think.
“I am not sure after the statement what Levy made two days ago, letter to the fans saying we need to get back to free-flowing open football, I am not sure that that is what Nuno delivers, so I think it would be a contradiction.”
Nuno will leave Wolves after today’s game.
It means that Levy will not have to pay a compensation fee, and that is appealing indeed.
However, the way Wolves play under Nuno is not exactly a brilliant watch, but that is not to say that he would not change his style if he had better players at his disposal.
Of course, there are better and more high-profile managers out there, such as Massimiliano Allegri, that could be more appealing to Spurs fans.
