Westwood is out of contract at Barnsley’s local rivals, Sheffield Wednesday.

The Sheffield Wednesday coach, Lee Bullen, has laughed off suggestions Barnsley are interested in signing the Owls goalkeeper, Keiren Westwood.
Westwood’s contract is due to expire this summer, although Wednesday are understood to have a year’s option in their favour.
It has since been claimed by The Sunday on Sunday that the Owls are close to agreeing terms with the 34-year-old.
And given Bullen’s recent online activity, a transfer to Barnsley is certainly unlikely for Westwood.
Barnsley are expected to enter the market for a new number one this summer, after Adam Davies – one the understudy to Westwood’s predecessor, Chris Kirkland, at Sheffield Wednesday – was strongly linked with a move to Stoke City.
Westwood has spent the past five seasons at Sheffield Wednesday and has won the club’s player of the year award in two of those.
The Republic of Ireland international was overlooked by the previous Owls boss, Jos Luhukay, but returned to the side after Bullen was placed in interim charge.
