According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (2/6; page 59), Sheffield Wednesday are close to agreeing new contracts with Keiren Westwood and Liam Palmer, while Kieran Lee may also land fresh terms with the Owls.

Steve Bruce is gearing up for his first summer at the helm at Hillsborough. Wednesday showed plenty of promise following his appointment, but left it too late to push their way into the top six and finished the campaign in 12th.

One of the key pieces of business that the supporters wished to see get done this summer was a new deal for Westwood, who made Jos Luhukay's decision to leave him out in the cold during his tenure look baffling with his form following his return to the side.

The Republic of Ireland international is out of contract this summer, but The Sun on Sunday (2/6; page 59) reports that he is close to penning fresh terms with Bruce's men, and he is set to be followed by Palmer, who made 35 league appearances this past season and has been included in Scotland's latest squad.

Interestingly, the report adds that Lee could also agree a short-term deal with the Owls having returned from injury before the end of the season.

The 30-year-old missed the entirety of 2018 due to injury and only returned at the end of April, but it appears that Bruce could give him longer to prove that his problems are behind him and he can rediscover his previous form.
