Celtic absolutely must sign a new right back this summer, and Sheffield United’s George Baldock is back on the radar.
What’s the story?
The Daily Record reported on Sunday that Celtic are keen to sign Baldock, with Ange Postecoglou hoping to bring him to Parkhead.
The 28-year-old has suffered relegation with Sheffield United and is now high on Celtic’s list of targets at right back.
Jonjoe Kenny’s loan spell is over and with Jeremie Frimpong gone, Celtic need to find a first-choice right back – which could be Baldock.
Celtic’s past interest in Baldock
This is far from the first time Celtic have targeted Baldock.
Back in 2019, Celtic allegedly made contact to try and thrash out a deal for Baldock, but he had just won promotion with Sheffield United so stayed put.
Neil Lennon wanted Baldock at Hibernian and therefore fancied signing him for Celtic. Even with Lennon gone, the Bhoys are still keen.

Sheffield United fans have their say
Sheffield United fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the rumours, suggesting that Baldock should cost at least £15million if Celtic want to sign him.
Some think Baldock is ‘absolute quality’ and believe he is needed now the Blades are back in the Championship.
Others are worried that Baldock may fancy a new challenge at Celtic, urging the Bhoys to back away.
