Shannon Sharpe did not hold back while responding to Joe Flacco’s recent comments about NFL teams, delivering a blunt assessment of the veteran quarterback’s career pattern.

The exchange comes after Flacco questioned why more teams have not trusted him as a starter.

Sharpe’s response focused less on opinion and more on what he sees as a recurring trend.

Shannon Sharpe calls out Joe Flacco’s track record after NFL rant

Sharpe reacted strongly while breaking down Flacco’s recent stints across multiple teams.

“Remember, he got off to a hot start in Cleveland, and then what happened? He wet the bed. He got off to that hot start in Cincinnati. What did he do, Ocho? Wet the bed,” Sharpe said.

“He got off to a hot start in Indy. What happened, Ocho? Wet the bed. Hot start with the Jets, wet the bed. Don’t you see a recurring theme?” he added.

The critique centers on consistency, with Sharpe arguing that early flashes have not translated into sustained performance.

It also frames Flacco’s situation as a result of on-field outcomes rather than external decisions.

Joe Flacco explains frustration with NFL teams before Bengals return

Flacco shared his perspective before signing a one-year deal to return to the Cincinnati Bengals.

“I think I can get all caught up in all that and say, ‘Why not me’ and be bitter about it. I probably do feel that way. Yeah, it pisses me off a little bit,” Flacco said.

He added: “But at the same time, I’m very happy to be here. I had a lot of fun with Joe, and Joe’s the guy. And believe me, I wish I was the guy somewhere, and think teams are dumb for not having be that guy.”

The comments reflect a balance between frustration and acceptance, acknowledging both his desire to start and his current role.

It also explains why the debate around his status continues. The contrast between Sharpe’s critique and Flacco’s belief is what drives the conversation forward.
