Arsenal are desperately trying to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk – the Gunners have already seen a £55m bid rejected.

According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal are planning to send an improved offer to the Ukrainian giants, with Mikel Arteta determined to sign the 21-year-old wonderkid.

Now, Shakhtar Donetsk have made an official announcement about Mudryk.

What’s the story?

Well, just days before Mudryk could actually leave Shakhtar Donetsk, the Ukrainian side have announced that their No.10 has won their Player of the Year award for 2022.

The Ukraine international amazingly received 76% of the votes from a total of 17,319 fans who took part in the poll.

Mudryk was also named Shakhtar Donetsk Player of the Year in 2021.

It comes after the rapid winger scored ten goals and also provided eight assists in 18 appearances so far this season, including three strikes in the Champions League as he announces himself to the rest of Europe.

Mudryk has deservedly won the 2022 Shakhtar Donetsk Player of the Year award, and if it really is the end of his time with the Ukrainian giants, it is a fitting way to bow out.

Arsenal Mudryk latest

December isn’t even over yet, and the saga surrounding Mudryk has already taken plenty of twists – it can be hard to keep up with at times.

As of now, Arsenal have been told to increase their offer to £66m for the speedy forward, who is under contract at Shakhtar Donetsk until 2026.

Sergei Palkin – Chief Executive Officer of the Ukrainian giants – has even admitted that he is speaking to Arsenal about a deal for Mudryk.

The next few days are said to be crucial in negotiations – according to respected journalist Rudy Galetti on Twitter – with both clubs now in talks over the structure of the deal.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as developments are expected to happen shortly.
