Sean McVay was not happy with the LA Rams’ performance against the Atlanta Falcons, and made a big decision ahead of Week 18.

The Los Angeles Rams lost to the Atlanta Falcons in an NFC upset on Monday Night Football, and Sean McVay was not happy about it.

The Rams clinched their postseason berth last week, and while the loss to Atlanta didn’t change their position, McVay said he’s more focused on form than seeding.

Sean McVay says LA Rams starters will play in final game

Sean McVay confirmed that the Los Angeles Rams will play their starters in the regular-season finale against the Arizona Cardinals, even though their playoff spot is already secure.

When asked whether his starters would feature in Week 18, McVay didn’t hesitate. The Rams have lost two in a row, and McVay made it clear he wants to see improvement.

“We’re playing. Yeah, they’re playing. We need to play better football. I don’t know what the consequences are and those different types of things, but we’ve got to play better.”

Quarterback Matthew Stafford backed the decision, telling reporters he’s happy to suit up for the finale. “I love playing the game, so I’ll be ready to go,” Stafford said.

LA Rams focused on rhythm heading into the postseason

McVay’s stance marks a change from previous seasons, when the Rams have occasionally rested starters in similar scenarios.

This time, he appears more concerned with maintaining rhythm and sharpness heading into the playoffs than with minimizing injury risk.

The Rams enter Week 18 on a two-game losing streak. While their playoff position is set, their seed could still shift depending on the San Francisco 49ers’ result.

A win paired with a 49ers loss would move the Los Angeles Rams to the No. 5 seed; otherwise, they’ll remain No. 6.

For McVay, the message is simple — performance matters more than rest. Keeping his starters active is a statement of intent as the Rams look to rediscover their edge before the postseason begins.
