Everton are in talks with the agent of Lewis Warrington over a new contract for their youth star, who scouts tracking both hold in as high-esteem as Liverpool prospect Tyler Morton.
That’s according to The Athletic, who report there are no guarantees Warrington will agree a new deal at Goodison Park. The midfielder is seeking assurances on his path to first-team football on Merseyside, as his existing terms will lapse at the end of the current campaign.
First-team boss Frank Lampard is likely to look to strengthen in Warrington’s position over the summer sales. The Toffees lack depth in their engine room for mobile players who can move the ball and create chances. So, will either promote from their youth or strike deals.

Warrington has strengthened his calls for a greater senior presence whilst away on loan at Tranmere Rovers this year. He joined the League Two outfit on January’s deadline day for the rest of the term. The 19-year-old has scored once and assisted once since in 10 games.
Everton’s north regional scout manager John Doolan is keeping close tabs on Warrington’s performances with Micky Mellon’s promotion-chasing side. The Prenton Park manager has tasked the teenager with getting about the pitch whilst they challenge for a play-off place.
League One Fleetwood Town also explored Warrington’s availability in January, but could not free a squad role in time. Now, his stock and confidence is rising rapidly with the Super White Army. Scouts are also noting his improved driving runs and strength in possession.

Warrington now wants guarantees Everton believe he can fulfil his potential at Goodison before signing a new contract. He will put his path toward the first-team above the terms the Toffees may offer. As the Blues are not the only club knocking on his door any longer.

Scouts tracking his Tranmere loan also hold Warrington in as high-regard as his Liverpool counterpart and close friend Morton. But unlike the Reds’ 19-year-old, who has played in nine matches under Jurgen Klopp, Warrington is yet to feature in the Everton first-team.

Jamie Carragher also called Morton ‘outstanding’ after a showcase performance for the Anfield natives at the San Siro against AC Milan in the Champions League in December. On the other side of Stanley Park, meanwhile, Warrington has not even made a senior squad.
