Stan Collymore has suggested that Brendan Rodgers says ‘sorry’ to the Celtic fans if he wants to become their next manager again.

It has been over four years since Brendan Rodgers decided to pack his bags, in the middle of trying to win another treble with Celtic, and join then-Premier League side, Leicester City.

The Northern Irishman’s call to leave in such a manner didn’t sit well with the Celtic faithful, and even to this day, it causes a stir, with Collymore speaking about his possible return to Parkhead on Twitter.

Yes, Ange Postecoglou has also left for another Premier League club, and that also after winning the treble, but he’s done it in a more respectable manner and at the end of the season.

Either way, trying to fill his boots, for the next man, is going to be difficult because from his easy-on-the-eye style of play to his outstanding man-management skills, he had the lot.

That’s why there is talk and calls for Celtic to replace one treble-winning coach, for another in Rodgers, with Collymore suggesting that he would be open to that idea.

“Rodgers. If he’s clever he’d just say sorry, “it was the Premier League, in hindsight, etc etc”,” said Collymore. “Think that would suffice for many because of his record. Benefits are obvious, won everything, style, worked with many still there.”

Does Rodgers want the Celtic job again?

It’s all good asking whether Celtic fans would want Rodgers back in their dugout again, first and foremost, does he want to come back himself? Alan Brazil dropped a bombshell about what he knows from his ‘inside information’.

Whilst Rodgers won the FA Cup with Leicester City, in the end, it ended with a smack across his face because he was sacked after the turn of the year and he then watched his side get relegated, which he has to take responsibility for.

Nonetheless, Celtic should stay clear of Rodgers because they aren’t in the mess they were in before Ange came in, they don’t NEED Rodgers and they can go down the route of bringing in that unknown figure, which would work because the man who has just left did wonders and the squad of players that are at the club now are at the top of their game.
