Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli are preparing a £30 million offer for Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez, with a staggering £25 million a year wage package on the table for the Algerian winger.
That’s according to Sam Lee of The Athletic, who claims that the Saudi side are keen for Mahrez to be the star player in their team, this is despite signing Eduoard Mendy and Roberto Firmino this summer.
Al-Ahli have also made an offer to Liverpool for midfielder Fabinho, but the signing of Mahrez would be a real statement of intent.
Talksport claim that the Algerian winger is ‘keen on the move’ with an exorbitant wage package on offer for the 31-year-old. The Athletic’s report, however, claims that the winger is yet to make a decision on his future and could yet be convinced to sign a new contract with Pep Guardiola’s men. City are also reportedly not too keen on the idea of losing the right winger.
City in midst of clearout
City are, seemingly, in the midst of a clear-out this summer. With Joao Cancelo, Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, and now Mahrez attracting interest from a variety of European clubs, it seems City are willing to complete a rebuild this summer. After their triumphant treble, you’d be wise to assume that Guardiola may want to keep the squad together but it doesn’t seem that way.

With only one addition so far this summer, the £25 million signing of Chelsea’s Matteo Kovacic, it has been a relatively quiet window so far this summer for City. RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol has also been linked with a move to Manchester City, with Aymeric Laporte reportedly wanting to leave this summer.
The potential sale of the fringe players who have been there a while may well be a good thing for City, as the addition of two or three new players will keep the hunger in the squad that Pep Guardiola desires.
