Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad have reportedly made a £40 million offer for Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder Fabinho, in what is a surprising development.
That’s according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, who claims that the Middle Eastern side are keen on signing the former AS Monaco midfielder and the deal is expected to move quickly whatever happens, one way or another.
The news comes just hours after it was reported that another Saudi side, Al-Ettifaq, have made a lucrative offer to Jordan Henderson, believed to be in the region of £700,000 a week. The midfielder is said to be seriously considering the massive proposal.
Fabinho joined the club from Monaco back in 2018 for £39 million and won a Premier League title in 2020 and, also, won the UEFA Champions League back in 2019. But, it now seems the Brazilian midfielder, who started as a right-back under Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, will be the next high-profile player to make the move to Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool looking for a replacement before sanctioning the sale of the Brazilian
Liverpool are in the midst of a midfield rebuild, following the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. It now seems the Reds may need to dip into the transfer market, yet again.
According to the same report from The Athletic, Jurgen Klopp’s men would only sanction the sale of Fabinho if they could bring in a replacement of their own.
Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, formerly of Manchester City, has been the top target for the Reds, following his very promising debut season in the Premier League, the Belgian midfielder has been linked with nearly every top-six side in the Premier League.
At the age of 19, it would be easy to see why he would fit into Liverpool’s rebuild. With an incredible engine, a good eye for a pass, and a strong tackler, Lavia represents the perfect option for the deepest of Liverpool’s midfield three. Although, it may take a bit of time for Lavia to settle in at Anfield, were he to make the move to replace Fabinho.
