Folarin Balogun scored his second goal in three Championship games for loan side Middlesbrough on Tuesday as Chris Wilder’s side secured a 2-0 win over Birmingham – and Sanchez Watt has applauded the Arsenal man.

Balogun, 20, had endured a difficult start to life at Boro after joining the Teesside club in January, on loan until the summer. But he has since found his shooting boots – though it was only his second in 14 Boro appearances.

With Middlesbrough already leading thanks to fellow loanee Aaron Connolly, Balogun received the ball on the edge of the area before curling in a delightful effort into the top corner. His best moment in a Boro shirt.

The win was a crucial one for Middlesbrough, as it sees them climb into sixth place in the Championship table – the last available play-off place. However, plenty of other clubs have games in hand over Wilder’s men.

Watt reacts as Balogun scores: Shares Arsenal training verdict

Ex-Arsenal academy product Watt has returned to Hale End in a coaching capacity, with the 31-year-old himself confirming as much. Balogun certainly has a future at Arsenal, with the striker situation up in the air.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are both out of contract in June – meaning Balogun is the only senior no.9 Arsenal have. A signing is expected, but his form at Boro will catch the eye – including Watt.
