Sanchez says he is ‘definitely’ frustrated at what Conte’s been doing at Spurs

Davinson Sanchez has intimated that he could leave Tottenham Hotspur if his minutes do not improve.

The Colombia international joined Spurs for £40 million in 2017 [Standard] but is now a squad player under Antonio Conte.

Sanchez is yet to kick a ball in the Premier League this year and is reduced to playing against fringe opposition like Preston North End in the FA Cup.

And the central defender himself has admitted that he ‘definitely’ has frustrations over Conte not using him, adding that he may have a ‘decision to make’ in the future if things do not improve.

He told The Standard: “Definitely [it has been a frustrating period]. As a player, especially at my age and knowing that I’m very capable to play in this team, I think when no gametime comes it’s very hard. But I’m still here, I’m still competitive and I’m still showing I’m ready to play. If the manager says I deserve it, I will. If not, I’ll wait for my moment and then maybe there’s a decision to take.”

It’s a difficult one for the Italian manager because obviously he feels like Sanchez isn’t deserving of regular football right now.

That being said, Tottenham’s back four as a whole has been a mess for the whole campaign thus far – perhaps much longer – and the former Ajax powerhouse is justified in being frustrated that he can’t get more gametime.

Cristian Romero and Eric Dier appear to be Conte’s primary central defenders.

But Sanchez is right to be annoyed that even Clement Lenglet – on loan from Barcelona – is playing more than him in the Premier League.

Surely Tottenham will be sending Lenglet back to Camp Nou following what’s been a pretty dismal loan in North London.

And Sanchez may well follow him out of North London if he doesn’t feel he’ll get more opportunities next year, too.
