San Francisco Giants manager Tony Vitello was left furious on Wednesday after being ejected from the game against the Kansas City Royals.
The Giants went on to lose the game at Kauffman Stadium after losing their manager in the bottom of the seventh.
At the time of Vitello’s ejection, the Giants were leading 3-0, but things quickly turned sour in Kansas City.
Momentum appeared to take Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino off the second base bag, with the Giants’ Willy Adames looking to secure the tag.
As the Giants thought they had the out, the decision made on field was that Adames had pushed Pasquantino off the bag as he tagged him.
It was a decision that sparked fury in the dugout and eventually saw Vitello ejected.

The Giants have sunk to a 42-60 record following the latest defeat, which has sparked controversy across MLB.
After the game, Vitello spoke out about the decision and his ejection, with just two full innings remaining.
“As we stand here, I don’t know if he was out or safe, but in that situation you’re on edge. Roupper [Landen Roupp)] is throwing about as good as you can, but pretty obvious it was a swing moment there,” Vitello said after the game.
“Yeah, to be honest with you [when asked if he was surprised he got ejected], I obviously disagree with the call. I asked if it couldn’t be corrected; I don’t know what the response was, but all I said was it was a big call. Out or safe, it’s a big moment in the game.”
The New York Yankees were left frustrated with umpire Quinn Wolcott on Wednesday for his crackdown on Jose Caballero’s pitch-clock violation.
Frustration in the San Francisco locker room will have been even greater after the game, as the Royals turned around their 3-0 deficit in the final innings.
