Heurelho Gomes has told Tottenham Hotspur to appoint Luis Enrique as their next manager.
The former Tottenham goalkeeper added that Luis Enrique has the same style of play as Mauricio Pochettino after he helped ‘transform’ the north London club.
When Antonio Conte was booted out, many Spurs fans were calling for Pochettino to return, but it seems as though he will join Chelsea, instead.
Either way, it’s going to be interesting to see what road both teams go down when trying to bring in a new face for their dugout.
After getting sacked by Bayern Munich, Julian Nagelsmann has been heavily linked with the Spurs job.
But Gomes would like to see Barcelona’s former Champions League-winning coach replacing Conte instead, as he told Soccer AM on Sky Sports.
“Luis Enrique,” responded Gomes when asked who he wants as Tottenham’s next manager. “I think he can fit. The way he plays.
“Also, the style of play of Spurs. Tottenham change a lot. I am a big fan of Pochettino because I think he transformed Spurs.
“I think it’s pretty much the same style of play. They need to bring it back to Spurs again.”
ENRIQUE WOULD BE A HEALTHY FIT
It seems as though the former Spain boss is ready to take that next step and test his manager skills in the Premier League.
Whether it’s Chelsea, Spurs or another Premier League team, his CV is worthy of him joining a club in the Champions League.
The only issue for Tottenham is that they are at risk of losing out on Champions League football, as well as their star man Harry Kane, so it does take the glow off the Tottenham job, in that regard.
