Pundit Jermaine Jenas thinks Mauricio Pochettino would snub Chelsea in favour of Tottenham Hotspur.

There is no doubting who Tottenham Hotspur fans want to see appointed as the club’s new manager.

Spurs supporters have been chanting for Pochettino’s return in recent games.

It seems almost perfect; Spurs need some kind of stability and identity and Pochettino is available.

The Argentinian took Tottenham to the Champions League final in 2019 and is still a hero to Spurs fans.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like Daniel Levy feels the same about Pochettino.

There have been next to no rumours about Pochettino actually coming back despite claims that he would be interested.

Tottenham seemingly want to go in a completely different direction – so much so that they are willing to watch Pochettino head elsewhere.

Chelsea are set to make Pochettino their new manager in a move that will break a few Tottenham hearts.

It’s astonishing that Daniel Levy isn’t even trying to stop that deal from happening, and he must get his next move right if he isn’t going to go for Pochettino.

Jermaine Jenas think Pochettino would prefer Tottenham to Chelsea

It’s fair to say that neither Tottenham nor Chelsea are looking particularly stable right now.

Chelsea seem completely scattergun under Todd Boehly and Spurs are just a mess both on and off the pitch.

However, pundit and former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas still thinks that Pochettino would prefer the Spurs job.

Jenas has told The Mirror that the ‘only reason’ Pochettino is going to Chelsea is because Spurs aren’t making a move.

Jenas believes that Tottenham clearly just aren’t interested at all having not made a move after Antonio Conte’s exit

The BBC pundit even claims that he spoke to Pochettino during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Pochettino allegedly told Jenas that he saw himself becoming Spurs boss again one day, but Daniel Levy just doesn’t see him as a real option right now.

“Mauricio’s obviously edging towards Chelsea because Tottenham don’t want him,” said Jenas. “That’s the only reason. If they wanted him they’d have gone and got him the minute Conte left.”

“I had a conversation with Mauricio during lockdown and he was very open about the fact he sees himself back at Spurs one day. So, he clearly left the door open for that to happen but for whatever reason, the club and Daniel don’t see that as an option,” he added.
