It’s that time of year again when players receive news they simply don’t want to hear.
Tottenham Hotspur have been wielding the axe ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window officially opening next month.
Ange Postecoglou has to prepare for next season and he has been ruthless with the calls he has already made.
Yes, in Ryan Sessegnon’s case, it’s gutting news that he will be leaving because injuries have absolutely ruined the last few years of his career.
But the left-back isn’t the only one leaving Tottenham. Sessegnon joined the club in 2019 and only spent five years at the club compared to Japhet Tanganga.
The 25-year-old, who was on loan at Millwall this season, spent 15 years at Hotspur Way, but all of that has now come to an end.
Tanganga played 50 matches for Spurs in all competitions, but he will now have to find a new home.
He took to Instagram to react to his Spurs exit by stating ‘I am grateful to everybody who gave me an opportunity’.
In the comments section of Tanganga’s IG post, Sessegnon, who will know exactly how he will be feeling, simply wrote ‘brother’, whilst Joe Hart told him ‘Good luck’.
Japhet Tanganga leaves Tottenham Hotspur
Right call for Japhet Tanganga to leave
When Tanganga was given opportunities under Jose Mourinho, you felt he had a chance to become a first-team regular and take his game to the next level.
He had the right coach to improve his game, but Mourinho didn’t last long enough for that to happen.

Not only that, with Tanganga going out on loan, he hasn’t exactly shone brightly, so that didn’t help matters either.
But now that the versatile defender is a free agent and has Championship experience. You suspect there will be callers from England’s second tier.
