Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have one strict rule for Wrexham’s Las Vegas trip, and it demonstrates what generous owners they are.

Wrexham are currently in full-on party mode after celebrating their promotion to the Football League after a 15-year hiatus.

The Red Dragons finished with a record 111 points in the National League, meaning they will be playing in the fourth tier of English Football next year.

It’s been quite the journey for the Welsh club after Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the club back in 2020. The club has gained international recognition since the takeover, in large part down to the Disney+ documentary ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster recently revealed that Rob and Ryan were planning a ‘monster’ party if Wrexham got promoted. Speculation was rife about where the team would be heading, which was later confirmed by the club’s board advisor Shaun Harvey.

“There is a trip to Las Vegas being mooted,” he said.

Rob and Ryan have stuck to their word and the team are indeed heading to Sin City for a four-day trip. However, there are some ground rules, and the players have been told to leave one particular item at home. Their bank cards.

Top goal scorer Paul Mullin told GQ: “It became a thing where if we won the league, we’d get a holiday. So we’re off to Vegas. Ryan and Rob told us to leave our cards at home, they’re sorting the lot.

“They sent us a full itinerary just now. Part of me doesn’t want to go, I might be dead by the end of it! But I’d never go to Vegas by me own accord, so I’m buzzing for it.”

What an offer!

Photos of the team heading to Vegas emerge online

Ahead of the 10-hour flight to Las Vegas, several photos of the players preparing for the trip emerged on social media. The likes of Ollie Palmer, Liam McAlinden, Ryan Barnett, Eoghan O’Connell, Sam Dalby and Max Cleworth were all spotted in the departure lounge kitted out in special Wxm Clothing brand Champions hoodies.

However, manager Phil Parkinson has rejected the opportunity to jet to Vegas. Instead, the players will be left to enjoy the trip, with their manager having revealed he hopes they return in “one piece”.

The team will be back in the US this summer too as they have four friendlies arranged. Wrexham take on Chelsea, Manchester United, LA Galaxy II and one unconfirmed team on their preseason tour.
