Ryan Mason has shared the conversation he had with Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy before taking the managerial role on an interim basis, as quoted in Football.London.
Tottenham sacked Jose Mourinho as the first-team head coach yesterday and have appointed Mason as the interim manager.
The 29-year-old former England international midfielder came through the academy at Spurs and played for the first team before leaving for Hull City in 2016.
The Englishman has shared the chat between himself and Spurs chairman Levy before he was appointed in the role.
Mason told Football.London.: “We had a very long chat. Once the news broke I was in the building. We had a conversation. I took training, we had another conversation and he asked me if I wanted it.”

Great opportunity for Ryan Mason
One suspects that Mason would not have expected to take charge of Tottenham now.
The 29-year-old is very young, and it is a big responsibility on him to be the manager of Spurs, even on an interim basis.
It will be interesting to see how the players respond to Mason. Some have played with him, and some are actually older than him.
Tottenham will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Southampton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League.
Spurs will then face Manchester City in the final of the EFL Cup.
