Rangers are set to miss out on Morgan Whittaker after having two bids rejected for the fleet-footed winger but the need for an addition out wide remains – so, surely they should consider a move for Scotland winger Ryan Fraser?
It comes after The Telegraph reported 28-year-old star Fraser wants to leave Newcastle this month. Bournemouth, Southampton, Fulham and Everton are all keen on signing the pocket-sized Newcastle winger in the coming weeks.
Fraser has struggled to maintain a regular starting spot in the Newcastle side since joining the club in the summer of 2020. He has managed just 59 appearances for Newcastle. The 25-time Scotland man wants to leave The Toon.
Rangers have seen bids of £900,000 and £1.5million rejected by Swansea City for 22-year-old Whittaker. Russell Martin says Rangers need to “draw a line” under their pursuit of the winger. The Gers may have to look elsewhere.

Rangers to miss out on Whittaker: Should they consider Fraser?
Fraser, of course, has experience of the Premiership – albeit, limited. The speedster played 21 times in Scotland’s top tier for Aberdeen before leaving for Bournemouth at the age of 18. He played 21 times, laying on six assists.
He needs to join a side where he is going to start regularly. You would argue that at any of the four interested teams in the Premier League, he might only play a bit-part role – as he is at Newcastle. He would be first choice at Ibrox.
The Gers need a right winger and Fraser fits the bill for Michael Beale’s side. Hard-working, knows Scottish football, a bit of experience just when it is needed. He would have to take a pay cut on his £63,000-a-week wage at Ibrox.
But given is desire to leave Newcastle this month and with time running out, he might be open to accepting a lower wage. Newcastle are hardly going to charge a big amount for a player they signed on a free. Potentially, ideal.
