Rangers have suffered what could be a blow in their pursuit of Morgan Whittaker after being told to “draw a line” under their pursuit of the 22-year-old attacker – after the Ibrox club had two bids rejected for the attacking talent.
Swansea City star Whittaker has impressed out on loan at Plymouth in League One during the first half of the season. Clocking up 31 appearances, the England U20 star has had a hand in 16 goals – including nine of his own.
Little surprise, that there is interest in him. The Sun reported last week that Rangers made a £900,000 fee, rejected. Then, Fabrizio Romano said a fee of £1.5million had been rejected. The Sun said that Swansea rate him at £2m.
But it might be that their pursuit of Whittaker is now over. That is because, ex-Rangers man Russell Martin – who is manager of Whittaker’s Swansea – has said offers do not match their value. He wants to “draw a line” under it.
“He’s in the squad tomorrow. We’ve rejected bids, they’re quite a way from the club’s valuation of Morgan. We need to draw a line under it. Morgan is in agreement. So he’s in the squad tomorrow,” Martin said, as per the Record.

Rangers suffer blow in pursuit of Whittaker: Told to draw a line
Rangers are closing in on the signing of Todd Cantwell from Norwich. But, the Ibrox club really need to get their skates on if they are going to improve Beale’s squad this month. They certainly need to, with injuries galore at Ibrox.
Of course, the likes of Ianis Hagi, Ridvan Yilmaz, Filip Helander, Tom Lawrence John Souttar, Antonio Colak and others are still waiting to return. They will be like new signings. But, the Gers need a bit of fresh blood, too.
Whittaker would have been a superb addition. A really exciting player with huge potential. Under the coaching of Beale, widely renowned as an excellent coach on the training ground, he might have flourished. Up in the air.
