Well, Anthony Gordon going from Everton to Newcastle United looks pretty much imminent.

Earlier this afternoon, Keith Downie claimed on Twitter via HITC Sport that the Toffees winger had passed a medical ahead of joining Eddie Howe’s side.

Gordon, an Everton academy product, will join Newcastle for some £45 million in total.

And if and when it happens, it could offset Ryan Fraser’s move in the opposite direction.

With Gordon set to be signed up, that is one less winger who Howe is going to need at St James’s Park.

And with speculation indicating that the Scotland international – who earns £63,000 per week at Newcastle [SalarySport] – is a target for Sean Dyche at Goodison, there’s a good chance negotiations will speed up.

Fraser, linked to the Merseyside club on Friday [90min], has been a decent player for the Tyneside outfit down the years, and lord knows Howe – who managed him at Bournemouth – is a big admirer.

But the truth is, Newcastle are shopping in a new department of the transfer window these days.

And it was always going to be a matter of time before players like Fraser, talented as he may be, get moved on.

When Gordon’s move to Newcastle is confirmed, expect ramped-up speculation about Fraser heading in the opposite direction to Everton.
