Tottenham and Crystal Palace find themselves in very different situations when it comes to the right-back department.

In north London, Antonio Conte has three viable options for a starting berth in Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence, although in south London, Patrick Vieira isn’t as blessed.

Crystal Palace have just Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne to choose from, with the latter now 31 years of age, while Ward turns 33 on Saturday.

According to The Athletic, there was interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka over the summer, but a move back to Selhurst Park failed to materialise.

Now, a rumour coming from Tottenham should have Vieira on red alert.

Crystal Palace should sign Djed Spence from Tottenham

Well, according to The Times, Conte is hoping to find a loan move for Djed Spence, who has barely played since his £20m move from Middlesbrough back in July.

The England Under-21 international has played just three minutes of action across three separate Premier League appearances, as he struggles to get ahead of Emerson Royal and Doherty.

Therefore, given Crystal Palace’s issues at right-back, we feel SE25 would be the ideal destination for Spence on loan.

The Eagles can offer the 22-year-old a fantastic environment to thrive, where he will work alongside plenty of fellow Londoners who are roughly his age, such as Eberechi Eze, Tyrick Mitchell, Marc Guehi and Michael Olise.

Spence will know the first three from England Under-21 duty, so settling in shouldn’t be an issue.

Tottenham should do business with Crystal Palace

In regards to Tottenham, this would be worth doing, as Crystal Palace have a fine track record when it comes to developing young players on loan, as well as their own gems.

The south Londoners did fantastically well to help Conor Gallagher adapt to Premier League football last term, with the Chelsea maestro now an England international – he was named Crystal Palace Player of the Year for his efforts.

Crystal Palace also helped Ruben Loftus-Cheek, with the Chelsea academy graduate earning a place in the 2018 World Cup squad for his efforts in the 2017/18 campaign.

If Tottenham want Spence to become a key player for them in future, a January loan move to Crystal Palace would be a wise move.
