Raphael Honigstein said on BT Sports 1 (10:46pm, April 22, 2021) that it is unlikely that Julian Nagelsmann will become the new Tottenham Hotspur manager.
The well-known and well-respected German football journalist, who works for The Guardian and BT Sports among others, has said that Nagelsmann wants to take the Bayern Munich managerial role.
According to The Sun, Tottenham want to appoint the RB Leipzig manager as the permanent successor to Jose Mourinho.
Bild reported last month that Bayern are looking into the possibility of appointing the 33-year-old as their manager in the summer.
Honigstein’s verdict that Nagelsmann is unlikely to become the new manager of Spurs saw BT Sports presenter Jake Humphrey comment that his remarks will have ruined the dreams of Tottenham fans.
As covered by HITC Sport on many occasions, some Tottenham fans would love to see Nagelsmann take charge of the first team.
Honigstein said on BT Sports 1 (10:46pm, April 22, 2021): “I think it’s very unlikely. Nagelsmann would like to go to Munich. Bayern would like him to come. I think it’s not going to happen.”
Humphrey responded: “Thanks very much for ruining the dreams of Spurs fans everywhere.”
Disappointing for Tottenham Hotspur fans?
Nagelsmann has earned a strong reputation and is a very good manager, and he would be a good appointment for Tottenham.
However, Bayern are a massive club and the biggest in Germany, and one can understand why he would be tempted by the Bavarian giants.
The German powerhouse regularly win the Bundesliga title and compete in the Champions League.
