Ruben Amorim has a potential solution for his upcoming AFCON squad issues, as a previously overlooked talent has rejoined first-team training, offering the manager a timely boost to his options.

Questions over the availability of Amad, Noussair Mazraoui, and Bryan Mbeumo continue to hover over Manchester United as they get ready to host Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

Keeping the Cherries guessing, Amorim has offered no comment on the condition of several of the team’s key players.

While that situation unfolds, he will be encouraged by the sight of a long-absent Man Utd prospect returning to full training as matches start piling up.

This season has been a tough one for Tyler Fredricson, especially after how well things went for him last year.

He went from an unexpected rise into the first team to disappearing after a difficult outing against Grimsby. It has been a tough period that highlighted just how unpredictable football can be.

Fredricson has not even featured on the bench in recent weeks and has not played for the U21s either, fading from view entirely.

There was talk that he might have been dealing with an injury, though United never confirmed anything. That now seems likely to have been the case.

The defender was seen back in first-team training in footage shared by the club before their match against Bournemouth.

He was taking part in rondos with regulars like Jack Fletcher and Shea Lacey, who have become mainstays in training sessions this season.

Fredricson had been doing gym work since late November, but this is his first session back on the grass, suggesting he might be close to returning to action.

The upcoming fixture list could give the 20-year-old a chance to get some minutes off the bench soon, as Manchester United play three games over the next ten days.

Tyler Fredricson looking to push on after return

It has not been the season Fredricson had hoped for. After a strong start to his senior career last year, he has not been able to follow it up this campaign.

The momentum he built up has faded away, with struggles in both first-team and U21 matches adding to his challenges.

The timing of his return comes at a good moment, though, with Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt still unavailable and fixtures piling up.

While it is unlikely he will feature against Bournemouth, some minutes with the U21s could set him up for a squad spot against Villa or Newcastle soon after.

The club will then have a clearer idea of whether he can contribute to the first team in the second half of the season or if regular playing time on loan is the better route back for him.

Either way, getting back into training is an important first step forward again for one of last season’s brightest stories.
