Well if Arsenal are genuinely interested in Gianluca Scamacca, it looks like he’s definitely going to be available.
Arsenal have been regularly linked with the towering striker since the January transfer window closed.
According to FC Inter News, the Gunners are among those keen on the Sassuolo striker, who stands at 6’5.
And the same publication reported a month ago that the North Londoners had stepped up their efforts to sign the 23-year-old by talking with his representatives.
Going by Romano’s latest update, Arsenal should definitely take heart.
That’s because the reliable Italian journalist has revealed that the player is certainly going to be leaving the Serie A outfit this summer – despite signing a new contract earlier in April.
He told Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel: “Yes, yes, he will leave Sassuolo. “He extended the contract a few days ago but he will leave Sassuolo. It was an extension to allow a potential loan with obligation to buy clause. So that’s why he extended the contract, and yes, there are many clubs interested in him.”
Surprise turn of events
Leaving despite signing a contract extension is quite the development and this could actually benefit Arsenal in a massive way.
Well, short term.
That’s because the way Romano is talking, Scamacca will be available on an initial loan deal this summer, with an obligation to buy in the summer of 2023.
Basically, the Gunners could save themselves around £33 million – which is Scamacca’s valuation – in this transfer window or use that figure to bolster other areas of the squad, and simply pay the price for Scamacca in about 14 months time.
There’s always a risk regarding foreign imports, but we know that Scamacca is a monster physically and is even taller than Erling Haaland, who stands at 6’4.
Adapting to English football shouldn’t be an issue in terms of physicality, but whether the style of play in the Premier League suits him is another question altogehter.
