Arsenal have discussed terms with Brentford goalkeeper David Raya as a move to Bayern Munich seems to be off.
David Raya isn’t interested in Bayern Munich’s current offer as Arsenal move in for the Brentford goalkeeper.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who has been discussing Raya’s future over on YouTube.
Romano claims that Bayern Munich did hold talks to sign Raya on Sunday morning but the deal is now off.
Bayern were offering a loan-to-buy deal which Raya isn’t interested in, as it would involve him having to extend his Brentford deal.
Brentford weren’t happy either and that has now opened the door for Arsenal to potentially make their move.
Romano claims that Arsenal have already discussed contract details with Raya’s camp in an attempt to set up a deal.
The Italian adds that Raya would ‘love’ to join Arsenal and prefers a move there over Bayern this summer.
“In the morning, there was a meeting between Bayern and David Raya’s camp to discuss about the situation of the Spanish goalkeeper, but from what I am hearing, the deal is off,” said Romano.
“In the conversation, Bayern discussed the possibility to bid for a loan move with a buy option clause, but this is something that – especially on the player’s side – they didn’t want to do.”
“The player wants to move with a different kind of project, so this is why David Raya prefers another move instead of going to Bayern. Also Brentford were not happy with that kind of proposal, so deal currently off between Bayern and David Raya.”
“Arsenal are the big surprise in the goalkeepers market, because Arsenal have entered the race, Arsenal had contacts with the camp of David Raya and they are considering to make a bid very soon. Something to add, from what I am hearing, David Raya prefers Arsenal over Bayern for many reasons, but he would love to join Arsenal.”
“It’s important to say that already some discussions took place, discussing about the contract and this kind of thing, so Arsenal have already discussed some details on the player’s side, now it depends on the clubs,” he added.

Few Arsenal fans were expecting a goalkeeping signing this summer but Edu and Mikel Arteta seemingly want a new face.
Aaron Ramsdale is a settled number one but Matt Turner isn’t really a great fit for Arsenal’s style of play.
The American isn’t as comfortable with the ball at his feet as Ramsdale, so moving for somebody like Raya makes sense.
Arsenal have wanted Raya for a while now.
Raya was targeted back in 2020 with Arsenal goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana keen to bring him to North London.
Cana and Raya worked together at Brentford, making the Bees stopper a long-term target at Arsenal.
The Gunners could finally land their man this summer – but can expect to pay a hefty price even with his contract coming to an end.
