Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal target Cesare Casadei has agreed to join Chelsea on a contract that will last until June 2028 – with the Blues also set to agree a fee with Inter Milan worth an initial £12.65million plus add-ons this week.

Casadei, 19, is seen as one of Inter’s biggest talents – but is yet to make his senior debut. The 12-time Italy Under-19 talent has been on the bench for Inter’s senior side. It is his form with the reserves that has caught the eye of Chelsea.

Indeed, in Cristian Chivu’s reserve side, he has clocked up 24 goals in 65 games – as well as laying on seven assists. The young star has been linked with Arsenal this month, but it appears Chelsea are set to win the race in the coming hours.

Romano reports that Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Casadei, penning him to a huge six-year deal. Not only that, but Chelsea have also seen off competition from Nice or Sassuolo – with a £12.65million fee plus add-ons likely.

Chelsea have been accused of playing Football Manager, since the arrival of Todd Boehly. But given the time of his arrival, is that really a bad thing? They have brought in Raheem Sterling and four other stars during this window.

Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly, Gabriel Slonina and Carney Chukwuemeka. Koulibaly, Cucurella and Sterling improve the starting XI. But even despite criticism of Boehly’s approach, he is planning for the future at Chelsea.

The additions of Slonina and Chukwuemeka is proof of that, as is the addition of Casadei. He is a really exciting talent. He has all the ingredients to become a regular part of Chelsea’s midfield in years to come. For now, an U23 player.
