PSG defender Abdou Diallo has reportedly been subject to a late offer from RB Leipzig, with Aston Villa also interested in signing the Senegal international.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Bundesliga side have made a loan offer with an option to buy for Diallo as Leipzig look to sign a centre-back on the final day of the transfer window, with Villa also reportedly keen on bringing the PSG defender to the Premier League.
As per Romano, there is a chance that a Premier League club could make a late move for Diallo, who this summer has already reportedly been offered to Tottenham though Antonio Conte rejected the proposal, and given Villa’s lack of depth in defence, Steven Gerrard’s side are a prime candidate to land the former Borussia Dortmund star.
With a reported price tag of £30m, it makes sense why Leipzig are looking to sign Diallo initially on loan, with PSG’s valuation of the defender quite high despite how highly rated the Ligue 1 star is, and for Villa, they could now be set to miss out on a quality target who could work wonders for the club.
Leipzig signing Diallo on loan is a big blow for Villa

Diallo’s versatility in defence makes the Senegal star the perfect candidate to fill in for Villa this season at the back, yet with Gerrard seemingly eyeing different targets, Leipzig have now had the chance to swoop in at the last second to land the PSG star in a deal that could be a great one for the UEFA Champions League side.
Indeed, Leipzig will want to build from their DFB Pokal triumph last season, and signing Diallo will greatly bolster the club’s defensive options for the new season, especially with the German side looking to go far in the Champions League, where they will face the likes of Real Madrid and Celtic in the group stages.
