Fabrizio Romano has told German outlet WettFreunde that RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer would be the “perfect” addition at Liverpool, but that Bundesliga clubs are notoriously difficult to deal with at the end of the transfer window.
Austria international Laimer, 25, has been a mainstay in the Leipzig side in recent seasons – after joining the club in 2017. The midfield engine of the ambitious German side, he has clocked up 164 outings, having a hand in 29 goals.
Reports claim Liverpool are interested in signing Laimer. A player that Ralf Rangnick is said to have advised Manchester United to sign. He has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Leipzig and that could play in Liverpool’s favour.
Romano thinks he would be the ideal midfield addition at Anfield. He says Laimer has the same agent as Sadio Mane, another boost for the Reds. But he says German clubs are tricky to deal with in the final days of the summer window.
“My personal opinion is that Konrad Laimer would be perfect for Liverpool. They really need that kind of player with a lot of energy. Konrad Laimer had an agreement with Bayern Munich,” Romano reported.
“He has the same agent as Sadio Mane, so the relationship is great with Bayern. It is possible that he could go to Liverpool, but the German clubs are always difficult to negotiate with at the end of the transfer window.”

The chances of Liverpool signing a midfielder between now and Thursday’s deadline looks unlikely. But they are in real need of a midfielder. Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago and Naby Keita are all injured.
But given he is in the final year of his deal, Laimer has a real opportunity to go before the deadline. A cut-price move would surely tempt Leipzig. They will have to sell before the deadline if they are to bring in some cash for his signature.
