Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned by the UK government and this ruling has had a serious effect on Chelsea.

The Blues have pretty much been banned from doing any type of business in the UK. The club shop has had to close, the amount they can spend on away travel has been capped and they can’t even sell tickets to fans.

As you may imagine, Chelsea’s transfer business has also been hampered, and they’re now banned from buying or selling any players.

This will undoubtedly have a massive knock-on effect on the whole market, and one club that could be impacted is Arsenal.

It’s no secret that the Gunners are on the hunt for a new striker this summer and one player they were reportedly keen on is Armando Broja.

The Chelsea loanee has been ripping it up at Southampton this season, and the youngster looks a brilliant fit for the Gunners.

However, if these sanctions last until the summer transfer window, then Arsenal simply won’t be able to buy Broja no matter how much they’re willing to pay for him.

Broja will return from his loan at Southampton, and if these sanctions aren’t lifted, he’ll have no choice but to stay at Chelsea.

Unfortunately, Broja will be stuck at Chelsea, and with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner ahead of him in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, his development could be seriously hampered by these sanctions.

Of course, there are more important things at play here, and these sanctions are being applied for a reason, but purely from a footballing perspective, Arsenal and Broja have been dealt a bit of a blow here.
