Arsenal aren’t getting the best out of their star man this season

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been included in a list of high-profile players throughout Europe who are underperforming.
Respected Spanish outlet Marca has included the Gabon international alongside numerous Premier League players as well as stars from La Liga.
It’s been a frustrating campaign for the 31-year-old, who has scored just five goals in the Premier League.
In all competitions, the striker has eight goals from 21 appearances.

That’s not the return fans will have been hoping for from a player who signed a new contract reportedly worth £250,000 per week in October.
Mikel Arteta’s side currently sit 11th in the table, and meet 10th-placed Leeds United at the Emirates on Sunday.
The Marca list, headlined ‘Big players in precarious situations’, also includes Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino and Chelsea’s Kepa, as well as Tottenham stars Dele Alli and Gareth Bale.
From further afield, Barcelona’s Miralem Pjanić, Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard and former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil are included.

Explaining the list, Marca say: “They’ve been to heaven but now they are at the gates of hell.
“Players with incredible CVs, huge reputations and even bigger wage packets are currently going through tough spells.”
On Aubameyang, who arrived in London from Borussia Dortmund for £56m in January 2018, they say: “The Arsenal forward has swiftly gone from the most dangerous striker in the Premier League to having a crisis and a goal drought.
“He has only scored in four matches and his confidence is close to rock bottom, with his massive contract leading some to suggest Arsenal should look to sell him.”

Aubameyang’s team-mate Kieran Tierney, meanwhile, is nearing a return from injury.
A message on the club’s official website read: “Kieran is recovering well from a strain to the right lower leg and is aiming to integrate back into training next week.”
