Arsenal are now likely to sell Rob Holding in the summer transfer window, according to The Times.

What’s the story?

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are in talks with Brighton over a £50 million deal for the former Leeds United loanee.

If the 23-year-old joins the North London club, then Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will have a lot of centre-backs at his disposal.

The report has claimed that fellow centre-back Holding is ‘likely to be available for sale’.

This despite the 25-year-old – described as “fantastic” by Arsenal legend Sol Campbell on Stadium Astro in January 2021 – signing a new deal in January.

The Englishman is under contract at Arsenal until 2024.

Mistake from Arsenal?

Holding has had injury problems, but last season, the 25-year-old did well for Arsenal.

The former Bolton Wanderers man made 28 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League.

The Englishman provided one assist in those games.

White is potentially better than Holding and is also younger.

However, the Brighton star should be seen as a replacement for David Luiz, who has left the Gunners.

Yes, William Saliba is scheduled to return to Arsenal from his loan spell, but he is very young and has not played a single minute in the Premier League.
