Celtic assistant Chris Davies suggested that the Frenchman was ready to quit Celtic just two days ago, but Rodgers’ comments today suggest otherwise.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Celtic have rejected one bid for star striker Moussa Dembele. However, he explained that the player has not once asked to leave and that they have no interest in selling him via the club’s official Twitter account.
Speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s clash against Hibernian, Rodgers was quick to quash the rumours of an imminent departure, despite Chris Davies’ conflicting comments just two days ago.
Rodgers’ assistant was quoted as saying that the 21-year-old may have started to feel as though now was the right time for him to leave Celtic Park, drawing significant criticism from BT Sport pundit and former Celtic star Chris Sutton.
Sutton blasted Davies for his comments, highlighting the fact that Dembele himself had not once said anything about wanting to leave Celtic, which Rodgers also came out in saying today.
“Moussa has never once asked to leave Celtic,” Rodgers said, “We’ve had one bid for him that’s nowhere near our value of Moussa.
“He’s an extremely talented young player and we are not interested in selling him.”

The Celtic manager’s stance on the situation today is likely to confuse Celtic fans, after he had hinted that the club were preparing for Dembele’s departure following their victory over Partick Thistle on Tuesday.
“If Moussa goes we need to bring in another one. Simple,” Rodgers explained, as reported by the Scottish Sun.
“Players need competition and we need to be competitive.”
Following Rodgers’ comments, many Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to express their general feelings of relief, having heard so many conflicting things this January regarding the striker’s future at Parkhead.
