The former Celtic striker was heavily critical of Brendan Rodgers’ assistant and says he sympathises with the young Frenchman.

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has blasted the Hoops’ assistant manager Chris Davies over comments he made regarding Moussa Dembele’s transfer situation.
Davies was quoted as saying: “There is also an acceptance that maybe Moussa [Dembele] feels it is the right time for him to move on [from Celtic],” according to the Scottish Sun.
Sutton could not believe his ears when he heard this, speaking of his great sympathy for the unsettled striker and suggesting that comments such as those have simply made the situation worse.

The Celtic legend went as far as to suggest that the Hoops are in fact trying to push the player out of the club.
Speaking on BT Sport before Celtic’s match against Partick Thistle last night Sutton said: “It sounds to me like they want to sell him. I have great sympathy with Dembele.
“I think some of the things said about him are unfair. I’d go as far as to say that Chris Davies overstepped the mark.

“When have we ever heard Moussa Dembele say he wants to leave Celtic? In fairness to Moussa Dembele, there’s always been speculation about him. There was when he was 16 years old at PSG, then at Fulham – he’s one of the brightest prospects in France.
“He destroyed Manchester City in the Champions League. I really feel sorry for him.”

It was performances like the ones against Manchester City which Sutton highlighted that have led to the heightened speculation over Dembele’s future.
Premier League clubs have been reportedly interested in the Celtic youngster’s signature and rumours like that are surely unsettling for any young player.
It will be interesting to see whether Celtic can keep him for the rest of the transfer window, or, alternatively like Sutton has suggested, are able to broker a record-breaking sale to fund the purchase of a new striker.
