Aberdeen number one Joe Lewis suffered a serious injury against Rangers last week and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Derek McInnes has described his club’s search for a goalkeeper as ongoing but insists his sole focus is on the match against Ross County tomorrow evening.
American-born Danny Rogers, 23, has stepped in to replace to injured Lewis, however, McInnes has indicated that the club are still in search of reinforcements between the sticks with his first choice set to miss up to two months.

Rogers has been at Aberdeen since 2011/2012 and has spent much of his time away on loan. He earned his debut in bittersweet fashion, coming on for the injured Lewis in the match against Rangers, going on to win his first start against Kilmarnock on the weekend.
As reported by the Aberdeen FC website, speaking to the media ahead of their deadline day match against Ross County McInnes said: “It is still on going trying to bring in a keeper, Danny [Rogers] did well on Saturday but we have two youngsters as back up with Joe [Lewis] out for the next couple of months.
“The focus right now is on the game and having one on transfer deadline day is not ideal.”

Aberdeen have been linked with Newcastle United’s Freddie Woodman, 20, who is currently third-choice at St James’ Park. Having spent the latter half of last season on loan at Kilmarnock, the youngster is familiar with the Scottish game and would be a great addition to McInnes’s squad.
Nevertheless, Rogers’ performance against Killie will have given the Dons boss much food for thought, with the Republic of Ireland under-21 international putting his hand up as a potential future number one.
