Rio Ferdinand told Match of the Day live that reported Liverpool target, Pedri, was ‘exhilarating’ for Spain at Euro 2020 on Tuesday night.
Even though the 18-year-old saw Spain knocked out at the semi-final stages via a penalty shootout to Italy, Ferdinand was seriously impressed by what he saw from the teenage talent.
The Mirror reported back in April that Liverpool have contacted the agent of the £70 million Barcelona player.
And given the financial mess the Spanish giants are in, if someone’s clever enough then they could be able to lure his quick-thinking talents to Merseyside this summer.
Nonetheless, Ferdinand was left wowed by the player last night, despite Spain exiting the tournament.
“Pedri has been exhilarating at times with his vision and passing,” said Ferdinand.
“The way he receives the ball all the time. His head is up. Receiving it on the half-turn, it comes so naturally to him.
“He seems to have that natural ability and awareness where people are. The running is good. But the little bits of skill here and there separates him.
“Tight areas ‘give it to me, I don’t care because I can get out and I can probably put it through your legs as well. Not a problem’. Great player to watch.”

If a club in Europe, such as Liverpool, can get a hold of Pedri’s talents this summer then they have quite the player on their hands.
A brilliant hybrid of Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas, the world is at Pedri’s feet, and if he’s not winning every domestic honour possible over the next years then something must have gone wrong.
Pedri may now be out of the tournament but there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be crowned Young Player of Euro 2020 because he has been a standout.
