According to SPORT, Barcelona could now cash in on Antoine Griezmann, who Arsenal are believed to be keeping tabs on.

What’s the story?

Well, to put it simply, Barcelona are in a huge, huge mess.

They’re currently in serious financial peril, and are desperately trying to sell fringe players in order to finance Lionel Messi’s new contract.

So far, Barcelona have sold Junior Firpo, Jean-Clair Todibo and Konrad de la Fuente, but SPORT believe their departures have barely made a difference.

It is said that Barcelona need to make a significant sale.

In that respect, Griezmann could be the man to leave the Camp Nou after the arrivals of Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay.

SPORT believe Ronald Koeman is happy with his trio of Depay, Aguero and Messi, so the 94-cap France international can be sold.

Will Arsenal move for Antoine Griezmann?

In our view, it could happen.

A report from Diario Gol in March claimed Arsenal were monitoring his situation, and would welcome him to north London with open arms.

Now, a major development has taken place, so you would assume Arsenal are still keeping tabs on the situation and may now react.

Interestingly, SPORT‘s article mentions interest from the Premier League in Griezmann, who Arsene Wenger once called exceptional.

The Spanish news outlet do not name which club is interested.

However, as per Diario Gol, Arsenal are the latest English side to have their name associated with Griezmann.

If Arsenal signed the 30-year-old, it would be a major coup.

Griezmann cost Barcelona £107 million, and is certainly among the best players in Europe.

He scored 20 goals in 51 appearances last season, while also providing 13 assists.

It would arguably be the biggest signing in Arsenal’s recent history.
